Tu Mirada started out as a poem for my friend Meli:
Me gusta tu mirada y tu forma de pensar.
Me gusta tu estilo y tu sonrisa me hace llorar.

It rhymes well in Spanish but not so much in English:
I like how you look and the way you think.
I like your style and your smile makes me cry.

Anyway, one rainy day I was fooling around with this little reggae riff and I just started to sing "Hey hey yo te quiero, hey hey porque te vi", which means " Hey hey I want you, hey hey because I see you". It sounded kinda good and then I realized I wanted to put the poem in context so I wrote some verses about how I felt at the time.
